After all these years sharing my experiences and travels across Canada, France, and around the world, I realized there was a type of article missing from my blog: reviews of the hotels or accommodations I’ve stayed in. I love reading this kind of article before booking, so now that I’m back, it’s time to contribute and launch this new series! Starting with Bali, where I was at the end of 2025. In this article, I’m sharing my review of Incense Impossible Beach hotel in Uluwatu, Bali.

The location
I chose Incense Impossible Beach for its location, close to a few beaches and near a street with shops. I like being able to walk places, so it seemed like a good compromise. There were also several cafés and restaurants within walking distance.
Check-in & Staff
Honestly, the arrival was fantastic. The staff was super friendly. I also got to meet the owner. Absolutely nothing to complain about here, you can book with total confidence.
The room
I’d booked a “Deluxe Suite Sea View” room. My room was upstairs, and the staff carried up my huge suitcase, I genuinely thanked them for that, since after 4 weeks in Bali, my suitcase had gotten pretty heavy. The room was very clean, the ocean view was a bit distant, but it was there.
I had a small terrace with seating, perfect for sitting down to read or get some fresh air. Also really handy for drying my swimsuit and towels.
The bathroom was outdoors, with a door in the room leading to it. Make sure to lock the door properly after each use, otherwise you might get an unpleasant surprise, like finding a monkey in your room. One night I noticed the door had been pulled, thankfully I’d locked it properly. Otherwise, just imagine waking up to a monkey in my bed! It’s a little unsettling when you have to get up to pee in the middle of the night (I still get shivers just talking about it), but for a few nights, it’s manageable.
There wasn’t much storage space if you’re staying several nights and, like me, you like to fully unpack your suitcase.
The safe was too small to fit all my electronic equipment (as a content creator, that’s a really important detail, we need a good-sized safe).
Breakfast / Restaurant
Breakfast was included in my reservation. I only went once because I wanted to explore the restaurants and cafés nearby. Breakfast was pretty simple and didn’t leave a lasting impression. If you have the option, I wouldn’t bother with breakfast at the hotel, and would instead check out some spots nearby (I have an article in the works with my tried-and-tested addresses in Uluwatu).
The amenities
The pool was really nice! Very peaceful, we were traveling in low season so there were fewer people, and I really got to enjoy it: reading, swimming, taking photos (obviously!).
There’s also a shower at the front desk you can use before your departure, even after you’ve checked out of your room. Super handy in my case: I checked out around 11am but wasn’t leaving until 4pm for a flight after 8pm. I got to enjoy the pool (it was so hot, it was essential) and take a shower before my 16-hour flight back to Canada.
Vibe
It’s a really peaceful place, ideal if you want to rest or slow down.
Value for money
I paid 458 CAD for 2 nights (332 USD/284 EUR) during low season. For the location, room quality, and amenities, I think that’s reasonable. But everyone has a different budget and a different sense of value for money. This was the end of my trip, I’d just become a yoga teacher after 3 intense weeks in Ubud, and I wanted a beautiful place to close that chapter. For me, location matters a lot, and so does the style of the hotel.
Who is it for?
Ideal for a solo traveler, like I was, or for a couple. Important to note that it’s an adults-only hotel.
What I wish I’d known beforehand
This might be on me, but I didn’t realize just how many monkeys there were in Uluwatu, especially in this area. When I arrived, they warned me not to leave anything on the terrace, since the monkeys come and help themselves. The first morning, I saw a group of monkeys playing around the pool, jumping through the trees. It’s pretty striking when you’re not used to it.
On top of that, the beaches near the hotel also have a lot of monkeys. I’m not sharing this to complain or to say it’s a bad thing, they clearly live there, I’m the tourist visiting. But more so you know what to expect. On the way to the beach, I was advised to remove anything shiny to avoid catching the monkeys’ attention. I didn’t have any issues, but I’ve never climbed stairs so fast in my life, haha.
When I visited the hotel
I visited the hotel in December 2025, at the start of the rainy season, toward the end of high season.
My overall review of the hotel
It was a short stay, but I really loved the hotel, it was beautiful, peaceful, and pretty much matched what I’d seen on their website. Maybe because it was a quieter time of year, but the hotel felt very calm. That might be something important to consider if you’re looking for a livelier spot to meet other people. There aren’t really any common areas besides the pool and the breakfast room, so not many opportunities to connect with other travelers if that’s what you’re after.
